Art in public places - Part 1

On two occasions one of Vancouver's art galleries placed a number of works in the park area between English Bay and Beach Avenue stretching from near the Aquatic Centre all the way to the entrance of Stanley Park. As of November 2000 the 2nd exhibit is still in place. During the course of the installations this arrangement generated much pleasure, amusement or bemusement for a significant number of people. Local media even had a contest for favourites amongst the public. The following images provide a record of these exhibits so that they are not just consigned to memory but can be revived by viewing them in the context of the West End.
