West End

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

English Bay

The intersection of Denman and Davie Streets at English Bay beach is the heart and soul of the West End. No single spot in Vancouver has as large a volume of people, at all times of the day, at any time of the year during any kind of weather pass through it. English Bay is an ideal venue for recreation, socializing, contemplation or relaxation. A number of restaurants have outdoor facilities that overlook the beachfront and pedestrian pathways as well as the action of ocean tides that vary in height by up to 16 feet (5 meters). This proximity provides the opportunity to work off some of the calories consumed, in a pleasurable way. This wealth of options is within walking distance of all residents in the West End.
The following images attempt to capture the many personalities of this wonderful spot and to convey to those who have not yet experienced it the reasons why it should be on their itinerary if they are in the neighborhood.
