Celebration of Fire previously known as Symphony of Fire
In 2001 new sponsors were found to continue the midsummer tradition of fireworks competitions by teams from around the world previously called "Symphony of Fire". The new version is called "Celebration of Light".
Depending on the day of the week anywhere from 100,000 to 250,000 individuals crowded the beaches and ANY viewing spot around English Bay to take in a spectacle that never failed to thrill. The pleasure was derived not only from the actual fireworks themselves but from the setting in which they were held. On perfect evenings the combination of mounting exitement, the energy generated by a crowd made up of all ages, the view of hundreds of pleasure boats positioned just offshore, the sometimes participation of huge gaily lit up cruise ships giving their passengers a unique perspective of this event before proceeding up to Alaska, resulted in a magical summer event.
